Growing in Prayer: A Summer Primer on Prayer
Wednesday evenings, 7-8:30PM, in East Hall from June 18 through July 30
If you're like most of us, you've encountered a desire to grow in your prayer life. This summer, we will take seven weeks to look at what the word of God teaches us concerning prayer.
Topics will include the Lord's prayer, prayer and the psalms and in the letters of Paul, a theology of prayer, addressing common problems with prayer (impacts of our fallen nature upon our prayers, prayer and God's sovereignty, "controversial" biblical texts), and the Puritans view of communion with God. We will spend ample time discussing practical aspects such as praying in the word, types of prayer, private vs. public, and specific questions in prayer. What are my actual biblical responsibilities in prayer? What about fasting? Difference between vain repetition and biblical petition? What about prayer for conversion? For healing?
Childcare will be provided, though all ages are welcome and encouraged to participate in the class. As you and your family look ahead to your summer, please prayerfully consider this investment in your prayer life! Please register HERE to attend. Text Jordan Minnick if you have questions.
