The purpose of our Children’s Ministry is to seize the unique and special opportunity to teach and instruct our children to know God through the gospel. Our goal is to spread a passion to worship God in Christ among our children by teaching them the Scriptures, modeling Christ-centered lives before them, and equipping and encouraging our parents to raise their children in the Lord’s instruction and discipline. The children are taught the gospel and Scriptures.
We recognize that a ministry to children includes ministry to parents. GBC parents are encouraged to be faithful raising their children in the Lord. Parents’ teaching is strengthened by the biblical teaching and godly example from our teachers in the Children’s Ministry.
On Sundays, our Children’s Bible Classes are offered for ages 0-8 years during both hours of morning worship services (9 am-10:15 am and 10:45 am-12 pm). Currently, we have a first hour class for our children ages 11-13, and a second hour class for children ages 9-10. In all classes, children are taught a lesson from the Scripture about God, Christ, the gospel, and how to live for Him. They are also directed in age-appropriate music, missions moments, games, crafts and fellowship.
Special projects throughout the year include a Christmas Party, an Annual Cookie Exchange, the Easter Egg Hunt, and other fellowship and fun activities.
In October of last year the Children’s Bible Classes made up over one hundred gift boxes to be given to Operation Christmas Child and thus sent around the world to tell other children of the love of God.
“There is no more worthwhile investment than investing the
eternal Word of God in the eternal souls of our children.”
--Bill Street
As quoted above from the perspective of man, “There is no more worthwhile investment of our time and energy than investing the eternal Word of God into the eternal souls of our children.” These souls are the church of tomorrow! From God’s perspective and with a child on His knee, Jesus taught at Matthew 18 that “whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me.” Children are precious and important to Christ, and children represent the potential for the church of the next generation. The Children's Ministry creates some of the most bountiful and long-lasting fruit a Christian can produce.
Rick Zaman serves by providing pastoral oversight for the Children's Ministry. Wendy and Kevin Routhier serve as the Children Ministry Coordinators. They coordinate all practical and administrative needs to the ministry. The leadership structure includes Classroom Coordinators, Teachers and Assistants.
Classroom Coordinators: Each coordinator oversees the teaching and administration for his/her classroom.
Teachers and Assistants: These people serve by teaching the children in the classroom and exampling Christ-honoring lives before them.
Currently we are in need of more teachers and assistants in our classrooms for all age groups. For more information about the Children's Ministry or to serve as a volunteer, please contact Rick Zaman.
