Our Youth Ministry

The “What” of GBC High School Ministry

Simply put, the goal of our high school ministry is to see each student have, grow in, and demonstrate a passionate love for Jesus Christ. To accomplish our God-given goal, we seek to worship God through our voices and lives, to encourage one another to radical obedience, and to spread our love for Christ to others through outreach.

The “How” of GBC High School Ministry

The activities below are how we seek to aid each student to passionately love Jesus Christ. This gives you a good idea of what our ministry looks like on a monthly basis.

Sunday School: Every Sunday morning during the second hour, we gather to worship God through music and study of His word. We direct this Sunday school class for the students’ age group by noting the relevance of Christ and His word to their particular temptations and situations. Right now, we are studying the Acts of the Apostles and learning how Jesus Christ’s ministry continues through us as His witnesses to all the world.

Youth Group: On the first and third Sunday nights, we meet in a family’s home for guided study and fellowship. This more informal gathering lets the students interact with each other and the leadership in a more causal and honest way. Here, we are able to discuss pertinent topics through the lens of God’s word and how that impacts their love for Christ and daily lives. Also, fellowship and fun are key components for the evenings as we are able deepen our friendships. This year we are studying through John Piper’s book Don’t Waste Your Life to better understand what it means to live our one short life for Christ.

Activities: Also, once a month we try to specifically deepen our friendships through fellowship and fun. We have gone miniature golfing, movie and game nights, days at the park, etc. These times allow us to deepen our friendships for more effective shepherding, more effective encouragements, and more credible evangelism.

Service and Missions: We use our gifts in various ways in the church. Regularly, the GBC High School Ministry serves together working at the church, leading VBS clubs, aiding the saints, and by serving and spreading the gospel through mission trips.
